Dr. Onuwa D. Terry, PT, DPT

Onuwa D. Terry PT, DPT received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1993. He was conferred as a Doctor of Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences, Arizona in 2006. He has practiced Physical Therapy for over 25 years in a variety of settings including acute care, out-patient orthopedics, cardiac rehabilitation and geriatric care. Dr. Terry is passionate about therapy and has broadened his reach beyond the Texas border. He served as a volunteer physical therapist at Michochene Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania Africa providing care to underserved people. Most recently Dr. Terry has been visiting the country of the Dominican Republic. He has volunteered in a small community called Bonao. He was able to provide prosthetics and pain management for the people living in the area. On another trip, he donated modern physical therapy devices to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces in order to improve the treatment and recovery of patients with physical traumas. The director of the hospital, Dr. Augustín Rubén Iglesias Melo, received the equipment with great gratitude, stating that “this hospital receives few donations because people believe that we have everything, that is why, when they give us something, we are very grateful”. With these words, Dr. Iglesias placed a distinctive button on Dr. Terry, calling him a special guest of the hospital and part of the family. His goal is to provide optimal care educating patients and the community regarding the role of physical therapy in today’s changing health care environment. Dr. Terry prides himself in approaching his patients with hands-on care. He stays abreast with trends and changes in the profession by attending American Physical Therapy Association conferences and other physical therapy meetings nationwide. Dr. Terry’s outstanding service and commitment to the Mission/McAllen community actually earned him the title of “Favorite Physical Therapist” for Hidalgo County newspaper, The Monitor, for five years. Terry Physical Therapy, established in 1999, is devoted to providing a clean, safe, and comfortable atmosphere for all of the Mission, Penitas and surrounding areas and is always welcoming new patients.
